There’s lots of information describing how people impact the environment, but there’s a very important health aspect, too. “People, Planet, and Health,” is a vodcast sponsored by the Archdiocese of Atlanta that discusses the elemental question: What can we do to help people connect with our planet that benefits their health?
Two of our parishioners (and Creation Care team members) Jay Bassett and Mary Martin have worked to develop a vodcast (video + podcast) about these key issues based on Catholic social teaching and Pope Francis’ Laudato Si encyclical to care for our common home.
The first episode, listed below, is an introduction to the panelists and the series and brings up ideas that will be discussed in future episodes.
The second episode, “The Plastics Problem” discusses how plastics are found in practically in everything we do, touching every area of lives, our health, and the planet. We produce 400 million tons of plastics each year, and this number continues to dramatically increase. And then there’s the issue of plastic pollution – everywhere. St. John Neumann has made some strides in plastic reduction by eliminating Styrofoamä from our campus. Father Sunny and other parishioners are highlighted in the Plastics episode.
