This Sunday we celebrate the “Feast of God.” The doctrine of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of our Catholic faith. Our God is a communion of three Divine Persons in Love — the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. All the readings for this Sunday reflect the beautiful truth of our faith, the Holy Trinity.

We are so blessed that we can talk to God as our loving Father. That we can walk with Jesus as our brother.  And that we can live by the light and the gifts of their Spirit of love.  Jesus has revealed to us a Trinitarian God, who is a community of persons in Love. We are made in the image and likeness of God. Just as our God is in a Trinitarian relationship, so also, we can be fully human only in a Trinitarian relationship with oneself, others and God. The doctrine of Holy Trinity challenges us to shed all traces of self-centeredness and to live in love of God and neighbor. The best image of a Trinitarian God that we can think of in human terms is that of a family. A father and mother with their child/children reflect the love of the Most Holy Trinity.

Let us pray for a deeper awareness of the Blessed Trinity’s loving presence in our hearts, in our homes and in our community.
